L/ha = total fuel รท area. gal/acre = L/ha ร— 0.1069. $/ha = L/ha ร— price. For 1,200 L over 80 ha at $1.50/L: 15 L/ha = 1.60 gal/acre = $22.5/ha, total $1,800. The efficiency rating compares your intensity to typical values for the selected operation. Common mistakes: mixing liters and gallons, forgetting that harvest consumes more than planting, and ignoring idle consumption (0.5-1 gal/hr).

Which operation burns the most fuel?

Harvesting, especially self-propelled combines, is typically 15-30 L/ha or more, followed by heavy primary tillage. Planting and spraying are the lightest at 6-12 L/ha.
